Chicken chili is one of the most loved recipes. Chicken chili is a popular Indo-Chinese dish of chicken of Hakka Chinese Heritage. Crispy, saucy marinated chicken is sautéed in spicy sauce along with onions & bell peppers. Chili chicken is a spicy, lightly sweet appetizer that you can cook at your home on any occasion. It can be cooked as a dry appetizer or a gravy with Chinese style fried rice or Hakka noodles. Chicken chili is full of aroma. This recipe is prepared with boneless chicken, but you can use chicken with bones too. Must try this recipe, I promise it will turn out fabulous.

Yield – 3 servings

Total- 40 min
Ingredients for Frying chicken:
Chicken- 300 gm (boneless)
All-purpose flour- ½ cup, 100 gm
Salt & pepper to taste
Corn starch- 1 tbsp
Water for thick batter
Oil to fry
Ingredients For making chicken chili:
Oil- 3 tbsp
Garlic- 2 cloves, finely chopped
Ginger- 1 tbsp, finely chopped
Green chili- 4 nos. chopped
Onion- 1 small, diced
Green bell pepper- 1 small, diced
Spring onion- 1 tbsp, chopped
Soy sauce- 1 tbsp
Tomato ketchup- 3 tbsp
Vinegar- 1 tsp
Water- 100 ml
Salt & pepper to taste
Corn starch- 1 tbsp+ water 3 tbsp (slurry)
Method-
1st step
Cut the chicken slices into thin strips. Then, in a mixing bowl add all-purpose flour, salt & pepper to taste and corn starch. Add water gradually and make a smooth paste. Further, transfer the chicken strips to a mixing bowl and coat the chicken well.
Heat oil in a pan for frying the coated chicken till the chicken cooked well or is golden in color. Take it out on the paper towel and keep it aside.
2nd step
Heat the pan, add oil to it. Add chopped garlic, ginger, green chili, sauté it for a minute.
Add onions, green bell peppers and sauté it for a minute.
Now, add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sprinkle some salt & pepper to taste and add water, mix well & cook for 2 minutes.
Add water, corn starch mixture, add water, corn starch mixture, and cook until the sauce thickens. Further, add fried chicken and toss well with prepared sauce in a pan. Garnish with spring onion, serve hot. Enjoy your chicken chili. It can be paired with fried rice or bread.
Note- Instead of chicken, it can be used Paneer, Tofu, or only tossed the veggies. Chili can be adjusted as per your taste.
Storage- It can be stored in the refrigerator or for up to 3 days. Heat up before consuming.
