Updated: Apr 24, 2022

(Wersja polska napisana poniżej:)

It's a combination of Palak and Paneer, which is Spinach and Indian cottage cheese.

The green color of this spinach puree looks soothing to your eyes, lovely color, and creamy texture.

Palak Paneer is one of the easiest recipes. It is a vegetarian dish originated from India.

If you like veggies, you'll love it.

This is a popular North Indian cuisine's menu which is delicious and healthy.

Yield – 2 servings

Timing – 20 min

Prep time – 15 min

Total - 35 min

Ingredients:

Spinach- 200 gm, frozen or fresh

Paneer/Cottage cheese- 100 gm, fried

Tomato- 1 large, chopped

Onion- 1 medium size, chopped

Green chili- 3 nos. chopped

Coriander leaves- handful

Ginger- 2 inch, chopped

Garlic- 2 nos. roughly chopped

Dry red chili- 1 nos.

Asafoetida- 1 pinch

Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp (teaspoon)

Red chili powder- 1 tsp

Turmeric powder- 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Garam masala powder- ½ tsp

Oil- 4 tbsp (tablespoon)

Fresh cream for garnishing

Method:

Step 1- In a pan blanch the Spinach in boiling water for 2 minutes and then transfer the blanched spinach in a grinder jar, add fresh coriander, green chilies, and grind it into the smooth paste. (Also, you can use fresh Spinach instead of frozen Spinach).

Step 2- Set a wok on medium heat, pour oil, and follow with cumin seeds, asafoetida and dry red chili. Add chopped garlic & ginger and sauté for few seconds. Add chopped onion and fry it for a while until it gets translucent brown in color. Again, add chopped tomatoes and sauté until it turns soft and pulpy. Sprinkle some salt as per required taste. Then pour Spinach puree in it and cook it for 5-6 minutes. Sprinkle 1 tsp of turmeric powder, red chili powder & ½ tsp garam masala, stir it continuously & bring it to boil. If needed cover it for a few minutes. When you see an oil layer visible on the top and side layers, that means we can start adding Paneer, mix it and cook further for 2 minutes.

Palak Paneer is ready to be served with Roti or chapatti/ Paratha. Finally, finish garnishing with fresh cream😊

Tips: You can also use this cottage cheese without frying it. Because authentic Palak Paneer can also have this paneer/cottage cheese without being fried.

*Note- Normal Bread can be used if in case you don’t have Indian bread like Roti. Instead of paneer you can use tofu and Italian white cheese too.

Storing Method- It can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Before serving - heat it a bit for a better taste.
